Abstract
Finca Panamá, Agropecuaria Atitlán S.A. It is located in the jurisdiction of the
municipality of Santa Bárbara, department of Suchitepéquez. It is located 132
kilometers from the capital city, bordered to the north by Los Andes farm, to the south
by El Esfuerzo neighborhood, to the east by Los Andes, Santa Adelaida, San
Agustín and La Ermita farms, and to the west by San Francisco Miramar farm. The
farm has a territorial extension of 1553.61 hectares, where, as a company, it
cultivates, processes and distributes the following products: Hass avocado (Persea
americana), coffee (Coffea arabica), macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia), bamboo

(Pimenta dioica), cinchona (Cinchona officinalis), mangosteen (Garcinia
mangostana) and lemon (Citrus latifolia).
The aim of the investigation was to calculate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
in the year 2020, of the operations of Finca Panamá, Agropecuaria Atitlán SA, in
order to continue with the traceability of the production of its GHG emissions and
know the impact generated by the activities carried out in said company.
The study area was delimited under the concept of control of operations that
considers all GHG emissions and/or removals in the facilities over which it has
control of operations and financial control. The operating limits were separated into
the following categories: direct emissions or scope I, secondary emissions or scope
II, and tertiary emissions or scope III.
The calculation of emissions was based on historical consumption, for which detailed
information on energy consumption, receipts, registration of fertilizer applications,
fuel consumption (gasoline and diesel) and maintenance was collected. |
