Sumario: In the following, you will find the different activities executed during the professional supervised exercise (PSE) or internship for Agronomia Tropical from Centro Universitario de Sur Occidente (CUNSUROC), the activities of the internship took place in the Tululá sugar mill, in the area of Ingenieria Agricola. The crop used for the activities of the internship was sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum), for which the irrigation has always been an important need for the development of the crop, this is why in Tululá sugar mill, there were two different testing areas (Finca El Minar and Finca Santander) for the use of mini – sprinkler irrigation system. The general objective for this document was: to evaluate the system of mini – sprinkler irrigation for sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) in Finca El Minar and Finca Santander of Tululá Sugar mill, in San Andres Villa Seca, Retalhuleu. In order to reach the objective set there were two phases, a field area that is where the tests were executed for the recollection of data, and the office phase which is where all the data from the field was later analyzed to reach the conclusion about the mini – sprinkler irrigation system. The field activities realized are the following, basic infiltration test using the double cylinder method in both test areas utilized for sugar cane. The results of those tests were later compared with the set intensity utilized by the irrigation system to verify if the soil in the testing grounds had the capacity of absorbing the amount of water being applied by the mini – sprinkler system. Another test was also to set rain gauges in a squared pattern every three meters, with the means to calculate the amount of water applied by the mini – sprinkler system used in the testing areas, each test had a length of three hours nonstop. During those three hours, the pressure of each sprinkler was determined. As a result in Finca El Minar the mini – sprinklers have a pressure of 49 psi (3.45 kg/cm2) applying 1.27 m3/h (1270 l/h) meanwhile in Finca Santander the results were 25 psi (1.76 kg/cm2) while applying 0.88 m3/h. These results were analyzed and it was determined that in Finca El Minar the irrigation system was operating bellow its capacity, in Finca Santander it was determined that the irrigation system was being operated under inadequate conditions for the system. Back at the office, the data recollected during all the different tests. It was determined that the amount of water being applied in Finca El Minar should be of 41.0 mm, the amount of water recollected by the rain gauges was an average of 59.4 mm. In Finca Santander, the amount of 4 water needed for the sugar cane is 47.92 mm, and the rain gauges only received 29.94 mm of water.
