Sumario: SUMMARY Ingenio Tululá S.A. is dedicated to the production of the cultivation of Saccharum officinarum L., sugar cane, is located in the municipality of San Andrés Villa Seca, Retalhuleu. They are currently evaluating the promising varieties CG02-163 and CG04- 09514 on the Santa Julia farm, lot 0050303, located at the geographic coordinates 14°26'27" north latitude and 91°37'30" west longitude, at an altitude of 144 meters. above sea level, located in the middle stratum of the sugarcane zone of Guatemala. The experiment was established with the objective of determining the adequate level of nitrogen for the new (promising) varieties of sugarcane in comparison with the traditional commercial varieties in the plantation and its impact on productivity. The experimental design used was a bifactorial randomized block design in divided plots with 3 replications. Where 5 varieties (three commercial and two promising) of sugarcane, factor "A" and 5 levels of nitrogen factor "B" were evaluated. The traditional commercial varieties were V1 = CP72-2086, V2 = CG98-78, V3 = CG00-033 and the new (promising) varieties V4 = CG02-163 and V5 = CG04-09514. The nitrogen levels applied were: N1 = 0 kg/ha, N2 = 50 kg/ha, N3 = 100 kg/ha, N4 = 150 kg/ha and N5 = 200 kg/ha. The response variables used were plant height, stem diameter and number of stems per linear meter (components as production parameters), as well as cane yield in TCH (tons of cane per hectare), sugar yield TAH (tons of sugar per hectare), optimal economic dose of nitrogen and the determination of the most profitable treatment with partial budgets. This paper presents the results of the first cut (planting). For factor "A" cane varieties, the variables stems per linear meter and height did not present a statistical difference, while the variable stem diameter did present a statistical difference. In the case of factor "B", nitrogen levels, there was a statistical difference for the variables of height and diameter.
