ABSTRACT
This research was carried out with students from the 5th. Bachelor's Degree in Computing and Bachelor's Degree in
Automotive Mechanics, from the National Institute of Basic and Diversified Education INEB-D of the municipality
of Chicacao, Suchitepéquez. Through direct contact with young people through interviews that were applied, the
answer to the problem was sought in terms of ¿Why do many of the INEB-D students not continue their studies at
the university level? During practice I and II, and in the first months of 2020, informative talks were held for
students about the different options offered by local universities to continue higher studies in the department.
Guidance was also given on how to search the internet for universities and all kinds of information about the careers
offered by CUNSUROC. After having carried out the follow-up to this vocational orientation process, it was
discovered that there are several factors that interfere with the continuity of university studies of the students, among
which are: the lack of a vocational orientation program that is in charge of facilitating tools for the student to
discover their vocation, little interest that teachers give to this process, ignorance of the careers offered by
CUNSUROC, the admission process to it, it is worth mentioning that the place of residence of young students tends
to be An important inconvenience, since they do not reside in the urban area of the municipality, causing
inconveniences in the return to their communities, since after 6:00 p.m. it is dangerous due to crime, lack of public
transport, inclement weather among others , It also affects the current economic situation of young people, so their
priority is to get a job when they obtain their title. it at a medium level. Taking into account that the choice of the
career is a personal process that implies thinking about the future, knowing the offer of careers, the personality, the
interests and the current reality, it is of the utmost importance in the psychopedagogical work to provide support to
the students in the vocational guidance process. |
