Sumario: SUMMARY The investigation was carried out in the "La Ceiba" sector on the "Las Margaritas" farm in the municipality of San Francisco Zapotitlán, Suchitepéquez; in order to evaluate three types of artisan traps and two types of attractants for the control of Gymnandrosoma aurantianum "walnut borer" in the cultivation of Macadamia integrifolia "macadamia". 36 M. integrifolia trees were used as an experimental unit. An ANOVA was carried out for a completely randomized design in a combinatorial arrangement. The artisan traps evaluated were of the Delta, ECO-IAPAR and BROCAP type and the attractants were a macadamia nut macerate with sugar and a molasses ferment with banana, using six treatments and six repetitions. The insects that captured the traps were identified, the costs of elaboration of the treatments were established and a reading of the precipitation, humidity and temperature of the farm "Las Margaritas" was taken during the execution of the investigation. As a result, it was obtained that there was no significant difference between the evaluated attractants and that there was no interaction between the evaluated factors, thus accepting the null hypotheses, instead, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the evaluated traps, for which a test was carried out. of Tukey means, giving as a result that the Delta and ECO-IAPAR type traps were the ones that presented the highest means in the capture of G. aurantianum of 4.37 and 3.47 respectively and were statistically equal to each other. In addition to G. aurantianum, the capture of 11 insects was recorded, which were: T. fulviventris, H. hermes, P. occidentalis, Atta sp, C. vicina, C. dirce, M. domestica, S. cancellata, A. mellifera, O. obesa, and P. ocirrhoe. In the elaboration costs, the three types of traps presented the same cost of Q333.00 since they use the same materials for the elaboration of 12 units for each type of trap. Regarding the attractants evaluated, the macadamia macerate required a cost of Q29.79 and for the molasses ferment with bananas, Q6.08 was required to prepare seven liters of each attractant respectively.
