Sumario: The educational administration requires involving the individuals that are part of the organization; providing them with a healthy and harmonious work environment where they can perform their duties. Informal groups arise within the formal system of the organization. This research has studied the effects of the existence of informal groups in the organizational climate of the National Experimental Institute of Basic Education with Occupational Orientation - INEBO - of the municipality of San Pablo Jocopilas, department of Suchitepéquez, the objective was to analyze the positive effects or negative in the work environment of informal groups within the organizational structure of the mentioned educational center. The research was carried out using the descriptive method with a qualitative approach, taking advantage of the practice of the Pedagogy career of the CUNSUROC Plan Diario in said educational establishment, where it was possible to visualize both the positive and negative effects of said informal groups on the functioning of the Institute. The techniques of: Observation and collection of documentary information on informal groups were applied, participant observation with which data on the functioning of informal groups were collected, which were collated in a field diary and interviews with key informants They are members of the informal groups that exist and are described in the document. With all this, the positive and negative effects of these groups within the organizational climate of the institution were identified. Where informal groups affect the fulfillment of staff functions such as the general activities that are carried out within the establishment, especially the fulfillment of the responsibilities of the work committees, damaging the organizational climate due to the reactive actions of the members of five Informal groups detected, some of whom work on their own, promoting disintegration, little motivation and support among members of the teaching staff and towards the authorities. For this reason, informal groups sometimes affect administrative work. These groups arise from the innate capacity of the individual to relate socially according to their similarity of positions, culture or simple religious, political, academic or other affinity, whose existence affects the organizational climate of the institutions
