Sumario: Abstract Chicacao is located in the northern part of the department of Suchitepéquez, 151.1 km from the capital city by the CA-9 highway (Nahualate) and 25.4 km from the departmental capital, Mazatenango. It has an approximate population of 56,018 inhabitants; the territorial extension of the urban helmet is 26 km ². According to Holdridge, this territory is located between very humid subtropical forest (warm) and humid subtropical forest (warm) forest zones. Chicacao has three rivers, Mixpilla, Nahualate and Cutzán, whose waters are contaminated by solid waste, such as: batteries, metals, plastic, dead animals and sewage from homes. The project to evaluate the discharge of wastewater from the urban area of Chicacao, Suchitepéquez, consisted in identifying the pollutants contained in the wastewater, discharged to the water tributaries, which allowed to elaborate the technical study of the management of wastewater to, according to Government Agreement No. 138-2017. Fifteen download points located in the urban area of the municipality were identified, which were georeferenced and placed on a map, for which the global positioning system (GPS) was used in a GIS software. The flow was measured during 24 hours and simple samples were taken to analyze the 19 parameters established by the aforementioned agreement, a population growth projection was made for the year 2037 and according to this data the flow to be treated for that year. In addition, a field investigation was carried out to identify the operation of the septic tanks and the homes that are connected to them. It was found that most of the homes are connected to the municipal sewerage system and that the wastewater does not comply with the parameters of temperature, fats and oils, floating matter, suspended solids and faecal coliforms as established in Government Agreement No 138-2017. The discharge flow of the 15 points is 0.8804 m³ / s and for the year 2037 it will be 1.6324 m³ / s, so it is recommended the construction of two treatment plants to treat the 15 discharge points; one with a capacity of 1.1914 m³ / s and the other with 0.4410 m³ / s capacity.
