Sumario: SUMMARY The present investigation was carried out in the cultivation of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) between the Private Institute of Research on Climate Change (ICC) and Ingenio Pantaleón S.A. in the San Bonifacio farm, Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla. For the validation of the EUPS, runoff plots installed in the cultivation of sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum), in the variety CP-72-2086 were used, the factors corresponding to the EUPS were measured to estimate the erosion and the erosion through runoff plots in each rain event. The erosion measurement was carried out in three different phenological stages of the crop corresponding to the programming of its harvest (third of harvest). To determine if the equation gives results that are close to reality, the data obtained was analyzed by means of a hypothesis test in Z distribution for two independent samples in which the results obtained with the EUPS were compared with the erosion registered in the plots of runoff. With the EUPS a soil loss was estimated for the first phenological stage (first third) of 9.16 T / ha, for the second phenological stage (second third) a loss of 23.41 T / ha and for the third phenological stage (third third) a loss of 19.07 T / ha, with the plots of runoff it was determined that for the first stage phenology there is a loss of 0.5529 T / ha, for the second phenological stage it has a loss of 1.1088 T / ha and the third phenological stage has a loss of 1.5748 T / ha. It was determined that if there is a difference between the erosion calculated by the two methodologies and that the EUPS overestimated water erosion in sugarcane cultivation.
