Sumario: The scientific release of universities plagiarized and originality–oriented study allows the academic community to establish policies to prevent and control this crime, thus, it protects its institutional image as a scientific knowledge provider. This article presents the art state about this topic through a process of analysis and researching thirty publications outstanding the typology, causes, good practices and the university regulation regarding plagiarism of the scientific release and regulations at Technological University of Panama. Studies found, most of them from Mexico and Spain, about some universities which have stated their position regarding plagiarism show some important advance, moreover, it reveals lack of research and adequate mechanisms about this practice to prevent, detect and control it in Latin American countries. The state of art is the theoretical framework for future research about this topic; implying with this the establishment and justification of new trends of research.
