Sumario: This paper presents a modal analysis of failure and effects of a talus of 10 meters in height, located in Santiago district, province of Veraguas. First, an inspection of the study location was made and soil samples were taken. The samples were collected at five different levels by vertical drilling of the talus crown and 3.30 meter holes were drilled at the talus foot with a manual borehole to determine the phreatic level. In addition, four samples were taken in cylinders. The samples were taken to the soils and materials laboratory of our university, where grading’s trials, Atterberg’s limit, soil and Protor’s clasification tests were made. These tests were made to determine the index and engineering properties of the soil. Additionally, a topographic study was conducted to verify the functional and structural variables considered in this study.
