Sumario: Abstract School failure can be defined as the low academic performance of the students of an institution, which is given by several factors that contribute to the problem, however the problem was investigated at the National Institute of Basic Education of Telesecundaria Colonia La Independencia, Mazatenango , Suchitepéquez, this institution serves young people in the basic cycle, with a total of 90 students, and it was evidenced that a part of the students have low academic performance, which was the reason for the investigation. It should be noted that the research contains five chapters with significant information, for the approach of alternatives the synthetic method was used, which consists of analyzing and synthesizing the information collected, so I use the survey to collect information from the educational actors. Through data collection, the factors that are affecting students were discovered, such as the lack of parental attention, family problems, in which the economic and emotional factor enters, among others, opening the way to implement strategies or alternatives. minimize or eradicate the school failure of the institution.
