Previous accounts of the existing mor phosyntactic strategies to encode information-structure categories in Buglere are exam ined on the basis of a typical Buglere narrative, Additionally, the information-structure category of givenness is briefly inspected by means of two production experiments; the idea is to ascertain whether the tendencies found in natural speech remain in controlled, artificial environments. The analysis of the spontaneous narrative tends to confirm pre vious accounts of the information-structure patterns in Buglere, while the results of the experiments only partially confirm previous accounts. The emerging discrepancies are explained as being caused by the environment of the experiments, which speakers might have found slightly unnatural. Este artículo da cuenta de la expresión de la estructura de la información en general, así como de la categoría de estructura de la información dada en particular, en buglere, una lengua chibcha de Costa Rica y Panamá. Se examinan descripciones previas de las estrategias morfosintácticas existentes para codificar categorías de estructura de información en Buglere sobre la base de una narrativa típica de Buglere. Además, la categoría de dado de estructura de información se examina brevemente por medio de dos experimentos de producción; la idea es comprobar si las tendencias que se encuentran en el habla natural se mantienen en entornos artificiales controlados. El análisis de la narrativa espontánea tiende a confirmar los relatos previos de los patrones de la estructura de la información en Buglere, mientras que los resultados de los experimentos solo confirman parcialmente los relatos anteriores. Las discrepancias emergentes se explican como causadas por el entorno de los experimentos, que los hablantes podrían haber encontrado un poco antinaturales. Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica.
