The objective of the research carried out is to explain the experiences of families in the face of
the COVID-19 pandemic, to Panama. This study was carried out in three urban areas of the
districts of David and Bugaba, in which the social scenarios are located, where the social actors
participating in this study reside.
This research has a qualitative approach, exploratory, descriptive scope, with a
phenomenological design which allows a deep analysis of the experiences lived in the family,
being them the protagonists, which allow understanding the nature of family dynamics and its
context. The sample used is that of voluntary participants and corresponds to three families of
different typologies. To collect the information, semi-structured observation and interviews are
used, which allows the categories and subcategories to be interpreted.
The results obtained show the experiences faced in the presence of COVID-19 in Panama,
including the fear of contagion, isolation or confinement at home, the effort to learn to manage
the platforms in order to help children not lose the school year, the uncertainty of what to do
when becoming unemployed or due to termination of work, overload and stress due to
academic commitments, among others.
