This article shows the definition of what economic geography is, what its application represents, the importance of being able to know the behavior of the economy of the different regions of the country. It also mentions relevant characteristics of the Panamanian economy, such as the percentage division of the gross domestic product, its current situation, which are the economic activities that contribute the most to the country, the figures that these activities have presented in 2020, 2021 and the figures collected for the first quarter of 2022, in order to evaluate how it has been evolving and thus be able to take actions if necessary.It also presents the division by regions, such as metropolitan, occidental, eastern, central and interoceanic, in order to present by area the provinces that are covered and the most representative economic activities of each region. Finally, the author's personal point of view is shown, regarding the importance of the existence and application of economic geography.
