The impact of the development of information and communication technologies and the emergence of the digital economy have been essential in strengthening a sector of the ICT industry as one of the most relevant from an economic perspective. On the other hand, the rapid advances in the development of the knowledge cause that this sector must implement actions to be in constant renovation and innovation. Within this framework, these knowledge-based industries depend on the capabilities and quality of the human resource (HR). Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the role of Human Resources in innovation in a group of companies in the ICT sector and that are framed in the context of the digital economy. It analyzes aspects related to the relevance of the human resource, possible obstacles, sources of knowledge and training in innovation management tools.In addition, a human resources index (I_RH) is proposed and analyzed from the perspective of the size of the company and the subsector to which it belongs.
