The biodegradable wastes in Panama have not received the attention needed by the Panamanian government agencies or companies that generate such wastes. The information available on the web was used to develop an approximation of the situation of biodegradable wastes and its options for use them in a power generation. Regarding the management of municipal solid wastes (MSW), the literature is very limited and outdated, the treatment given to the wastes in municipal landfills, which in many cases have generated environmental problems associated with environmental pollution produced by anuncontrolled combustion. Until now, there is not any ongoing project on deploying gas plants in municipal landfills, nor plants in level of agricultural farms that produce biodegradable wastes. |
