The present article is an analysis of the principles of cooperativism in Cuba, taking as reference the principles of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) (as per acronym in English) and the main causes that limit the materialization of these principles are mentioned, and that demonstrated that even in Cuban conditions the contradiction between cooperativism of fact and cooperativism of law had taken place.With the updating of the Cuban economic model, in which new spaces and opportunitieshave been open for cooperatives, is important to get over the lack of cooperative of culture, the dispersion in normative and legal framework and the absence of an institution for promotion and development of cooperativism, paying particular attentionto cooperative education.These aspects must be included in the claimed and long-expected General Law of Cooperatives in Cuba.
