Sumario: This article is based on a progress report of a research conducted on Panama-Costa Rica border among Ngabe-Bugle population. The aim of the research is to developa proactive and comprehensive strategy of prevention in this vulnerable population and make a diagnosis that includes the perception of sexuality and how to live it healthy and responsibly.Sexually transmitted infections are a set of pathologies associated with various etiological agents such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, protozoa and other microorganisms. Among the agents transmitted by sexual contact, eight have linked to high incidence of diseases, among which are curable now, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and trichomoniasisThe prevention strategies that will be developed in this ethnic group include awareness and education about the high risk of sexual transmission. So, we conclude that prevention and promotion strengthen primary care, which constitutes the true effectiveness of the health system and helps to reduce socioeconomic costs.
