The purpose of this article is to describe how was the reality of the Panamanian nation at the time of separation from Colombia, motivated by events before and during that process and also those that occurred immediately after. The influence of two natural features of the isthmus: Its geographic position and be a transit place. What pays off these features and why powerful nations fought to possess the transit area. It describes that Panama consists of two main parts: urban and rural areas, producing goods for domestic consumption. It also reviews the foundation of the Panamanian national monetary system. |
