It is safe to say that translation is a necessity in today’s globalized society; the advances in technology have allowed human communication and interactions to cross societal barriers in every aspect, including the language barrier. As translators, it is a must to study and train ourselves with the right knowledge in this area; the fundamentals of translation are the key knowledge for any aspiring professional in this line of business, they help us to go above and beyond to understand what it means to translate, the various types of translation techniques, as well the different processes it revolves around make us navigate the basics and increased our skill set by studying, practicing, and applying new dexterity in the practice of translation. We depict the results of this report by presenting a summary of the broad number of studied topics. Beginning by establishing the importance of the said topics regarding the basics of translation, then proceeding with the portrayal of our translation process through a mind map, as well as sharing a definition of translation based on the personal experience of the translators.
