Ethanol or ethyl alcohol is obtained by applying various chemical processes, fermentation starting to move to a distillation process; within the latter, the alcoholic fermentation is the most used. Ethanol has a variety of uses, ranging from fuels, culinary, pharmaceutical, chemical industry, among others. A major quality is its renewable nature and little affectation to the environment that produces. Environmental effects that are developing climate change require using alternative generation fuels and raw materials for industry to reduce or mitigate environmental involvement. The analysis benefit / cost is a dominant element that will define the best social and economic alternative. In this project, we were able to obtain ethanol from the sap of corozzo palm Attalea butyracea, preliminary chemical tests showed its good quality of flammability. Thus demonstrated the technical feasibility of producing ethanol from the plant source, however it is necessary to continue investigating and documenting aspects such as volume and production efficiency and experience other technologies to better yields, new markets, sources financing, and future research on the availability of areas intended for planting, production, macro of plant species of this type of palms and location of future ethanol production plant, among others. |
