Sumario: The research was developed in the labor context of the National Institutes of Basic Education -INEBs- that operate in the department of Suchitepéquez. The objective was to evaluate the dynamics of the organization of teaching in these institutes that were created in 2008 to attend the program to expand the coverage of secondary education in the country. To develop the research, active observation techniques, structured interviews, and a notebook of historical notes of the object of study were applied. It was found that the educational administration that is implemented in the institutes applies the principle of common sense when assigning academic loads, preparing class schedules, and organizing work commissions. The fact that teachers extend their purely teaching functions to assume the task of educational guidance to students with emotional problems or academic performance was valued, so it is recommended that principals manage the hiring of professional staff in educational guidance to their institutes
