Sumario: Bedbugs of the Reduviidae family, specifically Triatoma dimidiata, have been collected during the years 1986, 1999 and 2012, within the grounds of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (UNACHI), city of David and in the village of Palmira, District of Boquete, Chiriquí Province, at home and peridomicile, indicating that the Triatoma dimidiatabug is present in those areas. This insect is a vector in the transmission of Chagas disease. The specimens collected at UNACHI were kept in captivity, obtaining part of the bed bug's life cycle: eggs, nymphs-first stage, and the analysis of an adult femalewas positive for Trypanosoma cruzi. In the Palmira community, 131 Triatoma dimidiata bugs were collected and their stool analysis was negative for Trypanosma cruzi.Presumptive Chagatest Latex Test was also carried out on 100 individuals, giving 2% positive for Chagas disease. The investigation makes it possible to recommend a larger study in the population of Palmira to determine infection by Chagas disease.
