Ingenio La Union is certified by ISO 9001: 2008 (SGS) at which a policy is to produce and
market sugar and electric energy through continuous process improvement; being a
sustainable company in the economic, social and environmental aspects. As it is to
improve the efficiency of work, working more hectares at a lower cost.
Ingenio La Union has 20,000 hectares of which 39% are applied mechanized; the
estimated annual cost for the application of herbicides by machine is Q 768.413, and the
cost of the application is manually Q 3,892,144. Now it wants to increase the percentage
of herbicide application mechanized to 48%.
For herbicide applications by machine it used 200 l / ha which implies a high consumption
of water, obtaining an application efficiency of 15 hectares per tractor per day.
This research was to compare different application volumes to reduce water consumption,
with the aim of increasing the efficiency of implementation of the tractor. The treatments
were: 200 l / ha (control), 175 l / ha, 150 l / ha, 125 l / ha, 100 l / ha, treatments were
applied with nozzles that are commercially used in the mill TF 2.0 with doses of 1.14 l / ha
2-4 D and 2 kg / ha trifloxysulfuron (1.85%) + ametryn (73.15%), commercial mixture used
to Treadmill (Rottboellia cochinchinensis) and broad leaves. To treat 100 l / ha greater
speed was used the frequently used of 3.96 km / h to 5.84 km / h, in a trial design
randomized block located in Cristobal estate Lot 7.10, in soil with clay loam features with
a dimension of 2.05 hectares, in February 2015, the variables evaluated were: percentage
control days and cost control for each of the treatments evaluated.
No significant difference over the control rate at 35 days after application is observed.
Weeds that prevailed in each of the treatments was evaluated jaibilla (Momordica
charantia), in recent years there has been a difficult control of two weed species present
throughout the sugarcane area (Momordica charantia and Croton lobatus), and so far it is
unknown if they have some kind of tolerance to certain herbicides used in Guatemala
(Espinoza, CENGICAÑA, 2015). |
