Sumario: The research aims to characterize the administrative leadership of the directors of the Institutes in the Middle Level, official sector, the municipality of Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez. To enhance research, a case study, covering the seven Institutes of the municipality was made. Unstructured interviews principals, teachers and Technical Administrative Coordinator; and by conducting field observations; It managed to characterize the leadership of directors when exercising their administrative position in these schools. The research concludes that the administrative leadership of principals is affected by the behavior of members of its staff, no teamwork, have little motivation in their jobs and inequality of treatment from them for the teachers at their institution. It was found that managers communicate their personal decisions, putting them in concessive to ensure that all members take responsibility for them.
