Summary: The renal illness harms a wide amount of people worldwide and Panama does not escape from this reality; Dialysis is one of those treatments that can be avoid if kidney functions are detected on time which, at the same time can be really expensive for the patient and for the state as well. In order to evaluate if a renal function of a patient is normal or decreased, there are some medical lab tests as the case of the glomerular filtration rate, by making use of the serum creatinine as well as the microalbuminuria’s determination. Taking this into account, it is decided to begin a Mixed cross-sectional research where glomerular filtration rate, microalbuminuria in urine have both been determined and associated to risk’s factors which predispose someone to have this chronical kidney illness. Throughout this research, it is pretended to prove whether collaborators from the Faculty of Exact Natural Sciences from UNACHI are having this renal y illness associated to risk’s factors. Sampling has been done in a total population of 81 collaborators. The CKD- epi formula has been managed to determine the glomerular filtration rate, measuring serum creatinine using the Jaffe method at first, on the other hand, an active strip has been used to determine the microalbuminuria in urine; additionally, it has been identified risk’s factors associated to chronical renal illness in the selected population, throughout the use of an instrument in order to gather information. Subsequently, a relation between the variables of study has been established where, the results obtain during this research demonstrate that a 9% of the patients with a glomerular filtration rate decreased, higher rates of microalbuminuria; at the same time, presenting morbidities associated to risk’s factors of chronical renal illness. Furthermore, a 14% of the studied population has a decreased glomerular filtration rate and a 6% presents a microalbuminuria, without risk’s factors associated to chronical kidney diseases. Data gathered will allow to establish a precedent over the kidney disease function in this population, being the first step to the execution of the campaigns to make concern. Sharing the importance of applying exams to evaluate the renal functions.
