Sumario: The main objective of the work is to analyze the factors predisposing to respiratory infections in children under 5 years of age in the community of Volcan, as well as to describe its clinical picture, investigate the causes and environmental factors that contribute to its appearance, recognize the characteristics of climate change that can be related to the disease and verify nursing care. The methodology used has a mixed design of contextualized research, descriptive, correlational and explanatory type, because it is based on the investigation of a problem present in a natural and very frequent condition. This study is aimed at patients under 5 years of age who have or have a history of respiratory infections. As an instrument, the interview and the survey of the relatives in charge of these minors was used to collect information on the research problem and to characterize all those factors that contribute to the development of respiratory tract infections in the population studied. The study revealed that the most common predisposing factors associated with respiratory infections are: inadequate structure and cleanliness of the home, overcrowding, climatic changes, especially the rainy season, low economic level, inadequate diet, lack of health controls and scheme of vaccines incomplete. In turn, the results show that fever, dry cough, dyspnea, rhinitis, congestion and a runny nose are the most common symptoms in children under 5 years old who suffer from respiratory infections.
