The research work focuses on analyzing the relationship between lifestyle and chronic diseases in older adults in the community of San Carlitos. Its purpose is to evaluate the body mass index, diet and modifiable factors, as well as the prevalence of chronic diseases and finally the relationship between lifestyle and the prevalence rate of chronic diseases in adults in the community. from San Carlitos.
It was performed using a quantitative correlational approach, with a cross-sectional design. A population of 150 older adults, where a simple random sample corresponding to 48 individuals was selected, using field sheets for anthropometric data, the Likert scale and a questionnaire. The health status of older adults in the San Carlitos community was evaluated, finding that the BMI between overweight and obesity represents 85.4%, with which it was determined how little intake of foods such as fruits and vegetables correspond to 45 , 8% and water consumption influences health; in the same way as the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and sedentary lifestyle, representing 83.3%. As a result, it was concluded that lifestyle is a predisposing factor for chronic diseases present in older adults from San carlitos, David, Chiriqui. |
