The development of the Mathematical and Verbal Reasoning of the students is very scarce, from the beginning of the school life; Causing deficiencies throughout the school process and when they decide to choose a university degree, the effects of these deficiencies are shown, as they can not pass the aptitude and reasoning tests, causing students frustration and emotions that may affect their mental health and satisfaction. personal (Arrieta and Garrido, 2014).
This research seeks to analyze and describe the development of Mathematical and Verbal Reasoning of students who wish to enter a career at the UDELAS School of Biosciences and Public Health. The design of the research is non-experimental, descriptive and explanatory; in order to explain the strengths and deficiencies that students have in Verbal and Mathematical Reasoning.
The research was conducted with students who are enrolled in the faculty mentioned, with the requirement of being high school graduates, the sample was chosen for convenience, which were 25, since the students were in preparatory course and it was the only way to have direct contact with them. Two tests were applied, one of Verbal Reasoning and the other of Mathematical Reasoning, within which each item was scored with 2 points.
The results of this research show that in Mathematical Reasoning, students have slight difficulties in solving Mathematical knowledge operations. And Verbal Reasoning requires reinforcements in grammar, spelling and comprehension of texts. Agreeing with authors that support the deficiencies that students have in reading and writing. |
