Summary: |
As a dreaming mechanism, the motif of the the house triggers the exploration of memories and a return to childhoodand to the family home. To emphasize its role in the processes of recollection involves being attentive to the wayin which the family history is reconstructed; its subordination to a past situation, whose negative sense becomesre-evaluated in a latter retrospection in connection with the father figure, makes that El pasado es un extraño país(1993) ends as an attempt to avoid a conflict with this past. In this sought exile a narrative retrospection is gestatedthat, indirectly, allows us to perceive the "family romance" in the Freudian sense. |
