Sumario: This article presents a structured methodology that determines, in a scientific manner, the ecocompetences in business management required by microentrepreneurs located on San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos Archipelago, Ecuador. The size of the stratified sample was statistically established in 230 people, one for each microenterprise. The data collection technique was the survey designed ad hoc which consisted of forty-six blocks of questions. Of these blocks, to fulfill the objective of this article, were used the group of questions about sustainable development that consists of nine variables and the group of questions about business competences that contains eleven variables. The SPSS version 23 software was used for the statistical analysis and processing of the data. An exploratory factorial analysis was applied to the answers obtained, in order that the main components of each group could be established independently, and the main components of the two groups combined. The results determined, from the perspective of the microentrepreneur, the business ecocompetences, understood as the variables of sustainable development and the variables of entrepreneurial competences that are required to reach the sustainable economic, social and environmental development in their companies.
