Sumario: Organic production in Panama has a great challenge to ensure the country’s food security. Investigated the current state of organic production in Tierras Altas, Chiriquí province, to recognize the sustainability of agriculture in the region. The study was carried out in 2016. The objective was to characterize the organic production of the region in order to estimate its potentials and limitations. It was registered in the random selection of nine agricultural farms for the characterization of fifteen agricultural crops (Lactuca sativa, Allium schoenoprasum, Solanum lycopersicum, Solanum tuberosum, Phaseolus vulgaris, Zea mays, Brassica oleracea var. Capitata, Pisum sativum, Ocimum basilicum, Petroselinum Crispum, Beta vulgaris, Daucus carota, Psidium guajava and Rubus ulmifolius). It is concluded that farmers should be ineetivated to agriculture production and should be improved the logistics market of organic products to ensure food security in the country.
