Sumario: This research project tries to show concept, characteristics and fundamentals of the hospital design, specifically of a hemodialysis area, which will guide the biomedical engineers as well as the professionals related to suitable infrastructure of the facilities where this kind of medical attention is offered. A comparison was made of certain aspects of hospital design of the Metro 1 CSS hemodialysis room against FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities AIA-FGI, using a weighting grid that was used as an instrument to set whether or not it meets each requirement. The data collected in this study was analyzed, obtaining as a result that the hemodialysis room that was the subject of study, meets 73.12% with the requirements of the regulations. The 26.88% that does not comply corresponds to the infrastructure characteristics indicated in the Standard, which are mainly related to opportunities for improvement in the areas of patient support and hospital medical care staff. These areas have been proposed in the recommendations to be improved in future hospital facilities
