Summary: This article presents the "strategic and methodological proposal for the management of collaborative work" that is the result of a diagnostic given by an investigation concerning team work as a methodological strategy in the Pedagogy Unit of Costa Rican Educational System from a teaching and executive perspective. The proposal recommended to make a change to the idea of team work in educational institutions in order to pass from a scheme of team work to a more superior level in which the group feels that team work brings about the formation of a collaborative system where each member is important. As a result, this influences a harmonious organizational environment that will favor the continuous improvement not only of the institution, but also of its staff. The proposal establishes a standardized guideline of work for educational institutions dealing with collaborative work as a methodological strategy that directors could use in order to make suitable changes in search of the layout goals. In this way, excellency will be achieved by the educational institutions.
